Wisdom for Budding "Baby Witches"

Let me share a secret with you: the phrase "baby witch" makes me cringe. Respectfully, if you've been calling yourself this and you've done even one spell, stop! I'll bet you've been engaging in the world of the spirits your entire life, and if you've made a wish on your birthday cake each year you've participated in a yearly witchcraft ritual from birth. You know more than you think. You have more power than you're letting on. Shake off the infantilizing language. As long as you've crossed the threshold and are actively working the craft you're an initiate. Now you're walking your own path into magick. Welcome to the fold!

Here's a handful of wisdom that you should take with you:

None of us ever stop learning, so stop saying you don't know

Hone your skills every day, that's how we all get to master our talents

Let yourself have fun and don't take anything too seriously

How you do it is just as important as the intention behind it so don't put too much weight behind either

Remember that there is plenty of everything for everyone

Expressing your creativity connects you with the source of creation

Most importantly, always listen to your intuition

I continuously read, research, and try things that feel right. My only aim is to turn the world inside out in the pursuit of knowledge. I do things when I feel truly inspired to do them and only then. I don't feel guilty for my decisions. Sometimes all I do in a month is make my morning cups of tea and manage one small gratitude offering to my Goddess at the full moon. That's perfectly okay. Magic is here to help us, it is not an obligation. It is a relationship and shouldn’t be taken for granted, but the beautiful part of a solitary practice is that we have to answer to no one but ourselves.

Money, beautiful possessions, and lovely but fleeting romance can be nice but they aren’t fulfilling in and of themselves. The kinds of spells that most of us do can be incredibly helpful in getting our material needs and wants met, which makes space for us to be able to do that self healing work. It is important to remember that things and people can’t make us happy. We have to do the incredibly laborious work of learning self love, unlearning destructive patterns, and healing ourselves if we want to find real happiness and satisfaction in our lives. Only we can give that to ourselves.
