The Attitude of Gratitude: The Foundations of Witchcraft

Balance is one of the most important parts of life as well as in witchcraft. As we ask for things we must not take them for granted. For me, the entire basis of the manifestation ritual is showing thanks. On the full moon or last quarter moon I will often just make offerings to show thankfulness. It feels good to pull out all the stops and give gifts and words of thanks. Open your heart and let it all out. Just talk to your patron deity or ancestors or whomever you’re working with as sincerely you would a close family friend. Thank them, tell them what’s been happening in your life, express your gratitude, and share fully and sincerely with respect.

When offering gratitude for all you’ve been given it is important to still adhere to As Above, So Below. Pay your abundance forward, help others, don’t miss your opportunity to show love to the world and be a conduit of abundance to others in the name of your chosen deity. If you’re being granted the gifts of plenty to keep that energy flowing you must pass those resources forward. When we hold on with tight fists we can’t have open hands to receive blessings. There is enough to go around and more coming to me every day, at every moment.

I can let the grace and sympathetic generosity of my Goddess shine through me via mutual aid to my community, kindness to strangers, teaching my children the importance of true charity, and taking the time to show selflessness whenever I am called to do so. I never worry about having enough because every day my blessings are revisited upon me. I share what I have every chance I get. This is another act that connects me to the spark of creation, keeping the wheels turning yet again.
