How to Consecrate a Ring, Necklace, or Talisman

Consecrating an amulet or talisman for your purposes is so much easier than it sounds!

How to start

You'll need: a cup, water to pour into it, a bowl of salt, some incense to light or burn, and candle that you've dressed with the intention of initiating your new spiritual tools

First, place the special item you're consecrating upon your altar.

Fill your chalice (or your most special cup) with water (corresponding moon water is best, but any fresh water will do)

Bring out your bowl of salt, and then light an incense offering as well as a candle dressed with your intent in mind

Pass the ring through the smoke of the incense as you say “With the power of air.”

Pass the ring through the flame of the candle as you say “With the power of fire.”

Lay the ring on your altar.

Sprinkle salt over it as you say “With the power of earth.”

Take a few drops of water with your fingers as you sprinkle it on the ring as you say “With the power of water.”

You’ll need to hold your right hand over the item and visualize the link you share with your chosen deity or the forces of creation. I always see a glowing white and lavender cord tied from her heart to mine as she floats up above. Then the cord runs through my shoulder and down my arm into the palm of my hand, the light radiating from my palm to envelop the item.

Then say the words.

“This ring, charged with all the elements, earth and fire and air and water and spirit, is now my sacred tool. This ring will be used according to my will and the will of Goddess. May it serve me well in this world, in between worlds, and in all the worlds. So mote it be!”

Immediately wear your new consecrated item, as you’ve claimed ownership of it and want to bring your energies together to strengthen the bond.
