Things To Do In San Antonio When It's 100 Degrees
Summer is here and it's bearing down on us already with over 100 degree temperatures. We're all about finding ways to have fun while staying cool. Here is our list of favorite things to do, places to go, delicious air conditioned bites, and local favorites for the essential cool-girl summer (pun intended).
Ming's Thing - One of my all time favorite restaurants in town! Their focus on fresh ingredients and variety of options for meat eaters and vegans alike makes this one of our most frequented spots to eat lately, and their air conditioner works really well. My favorite is the Sloopy Steamed Bun.
Las Nieves - This little green fruit shack always has a line down the block for good reason, the mangonadas are amazing! You can't go wrong with any choice on the menu. My favorite is the strawberries & cream.
San Antonio Central Library - Our spacious main branch is an architectural wonder, filled with beautiful art, books, and they're always having events. This is a great place to go pass time and there's parking on site.
Nowhere Bookshop - If you're more in the mood to buy books than borrow them, there is only one place that comes to mind automatically! Nowhere has a wonderful selection of books, a beverage bar, and a huge section for the kiddos. As long as you like to buy and/or read books, you'll be sure to find something that sparks your interest at this spot in Alamo Heights.
SAMA - Our art museum is honestly among the top 50% that I've been to. Our museum is more impressive (to me) than those in several very large, much fancier cities. Tre Trattoria is on site too. Go eat some bolonaise and spend some time with the art when you're looking for a way to get out of the house but also stay out of the sun.
Ranch Motel - Sip on a cocktail and take a dip in the pool at this newly renovated spot on Broadway. There is almost always a DJ or some special food pop-up. Highly recommended to reserve space in advance on their website.
Blanco State Park - This is our favorite place to go spend a day at the river. It's a quick drive up to Blanco and there's incredible BBQ available a short drive from the park entrance at Old 300.
Déjà Vu Esoterica - Pop in for a tarot reading with one of our professional readers, take a class in our gorgeous classroom, or come in to browse our incredible collection.
